Overview:
For many immigrant and refugee clients, an intake, assessment, or screening may be their first interaction with the U.S. behavioral health system. Differences in language, culture, experiences with authority, understanding of confidentiality, familiarity with mental health treatment, and past experiences of displacement or trauma can significantly shape how a client experiences that first encounter. This training will provide behavioral health providers with practical strategies for creating more culturally-responsive and engaging intake experiences with immigrant and refugee clients.

Overview:
Refugees and immigrants are experiencing unprecedented isolation, distress, and fear, and at the same time, organizations are losing the funding needed to support these vulnerable communities. We urgently need professionals who are informed, prepared, and willing to step into this gap--alongside stronger collaboration and sustained investment to ensure these communities receive the support they deserve. This event is RIMHCO's most comprehensive, FREE training of the year!
Due to the wonderful feedback from our attendees, we have decided to expand this training from a 3-hour training to a full day.

On-Demand Trainings
Switchboard’s mission is to provide comprehensive support and guidance to professionals and organizations involved in refugee resettlement. Switchboard is implemented by the International Rescue Committee (IRC).
The BSBB trainings infuse culture and diversity throughout foundational workshops on suicide prevention and mental health. Community members learn to act as eyes and ears for mental health and suicidal distress, and to connect individuals to help or support.
